From pig races to new sideshow rides and flaming whip cracking, the Kingaroy Show Society is gearing up for a huge 2023 show at Kingaroy Showgrounds on May 6 and 7.

Kingaroy Show Society president Craig Lucas said preparations are going well and the show society is excited to welcome visitors from across the country to the event.

The woodchop ring will host three Queensland title events, and a ‘State of Origin’ round, pitting the best of the best from Queensland against interstate visitors.

Sunday evening the bull riding events start at 4pm.

Interactive events will run across the show weekend, perfect for the whole family.

From facepainting, to a reptile display to an animal farm the kids will be kept busy at the Kingaroy Show.

The show is also presenting sheep dog trails for the first time, and Mr Lucas is hoping this year’s success will allow them to expand the event into the coming years.

Classic pavilion exhibitions and competitions will also be on display, another show feature Mr Lucas said has had a rise in nominations, another win for the show society and the community.

In all, Mr Lucas said he was honoured to work alongside the tireless volunteers to bring the event to the community for its 115th year.

“If it wasn’t for valuable volunteers this event would not go ahead,” he said.

Mr Lucas welcomed anyone who was interested in volunteering or getting more involved with their local show to come forward and throw their hat in the ring.

“If the younger ones are wanting to help out, we will always give them support, come and see us,” he said.

The event will take place at the Kingaroy Showgrounds, with gate fees $15 for adults, $10 for pensioners, $10 for high school students and children under 12 accompanied by a paying adult are free.
