Two rescued from flood waters after car swept off road

A rescue operation has pulled a man trapped in flood waters to safety after his car was swept off the road in Brooklands.

Emergency services were called to Darley Crossing Road near Nanango Brooklands Road just after 12.30pm on Friday, after reports a man was clinging to a tree in flood waters.

Barkers Creek has flooded the road due to significant rainfall this week, making it completely inaccessible.

A Queensland Fire and Emergency Services spokeswoman said a man and a woman attempted to drive across the flooded section of road.

The woman was able to get of the car and reach safe ground, but the man became stranded in the flood waters as their vehicle was swept away.

The Swift Water Rescue team threw a rope and inflatable vest to the man and pulled him from the water.

The pair have been taken to Kingaroy Hospital in a stable condition for observation.

Neither have obvious injuries.
