South Burnett Regional Council is preparing to replace two ageing bridges across the region.

The council said the replacement of the Taromeo Pedestrian Bridge Blackbutt and the Nanango State School and Pioneer Park Pedestrian Bridge in Nanango will commence in mid-May 2021.

The works are anticipated to be completed by mid-June 2021, weather and external constraints permitting.

The projects will include the demolition and removal of the existing timber structures, which have reached the end of their service lives.

The Blackbutt works are funded through the Australian Government’s Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program (LCRI Program) and the Nanango works are funded through the Queensland Government’s School Transport Infrastructure Program (STIP) and Council’s 2020/21 Capital Upgrade Works program.

To provide a safe working environment for the council’s approved contractor and users, the work area will be temporarily barricaded off to all pedestrian access for the duration of the works.

There will be no access through the work site.

The council apologised for any inconvenience caused and appreciates the patience of businesses and the community while works are in progress.
