RACING: The Nanango Races went off without a hitch, despite the wet weather.
With many Queensland races being cancelled because of the weather, the races started early.
The first race of the year's first meet kicked off nice and early at 1.10pm.
The crowds were mostly unaffected by the weather with adequate undercover seating available.
All Host won the fourth race. His trainer was Darryl Gardiner and the jockey was Justin Stanley.
Justin Stanley said he wasn't worried about the weather conditions.
He had nothing but confidence in his horse.
"I thought he would be hard to beat... probably the best horse in the race, based on his previous form,” Stanley said.
"Last race he had great form in Rockhampton. So if he reproduced that he was probably going to be too good for them.”
Stanley said he was impressed with All Host's performance.
"I got a good run and I was always pretty confident he was going to be hard to beat,” he said.
"Once I straightened him up he gave it a good kicking and he was on his way home.
"First time I rode him and first time I raced him. So it was good to win.”
Justin Stanley hopes he'll get another chance to race All Host.
"I'll definitely be trying to get back on him. Hopefully Daryl finds a race at Rocky for us,” Stanley said.
The races were brought forward so every trainer had the chance to race their horses.
The last race was affected by the weather and shortened to 1570 metres.
