Police are urging South Burnett residents to lock their homes and vehicles following a series of break-ins and thefts in Wondai over the weekend.
The callouts began late Friday, August 16, when unknown offenders allegedly targeted a property on Philps Street, gaining entry to a parked vehicle and stealing items before fleeing the scene.
Later that night, between 10pm and 1.30am, another break-in was reported on Smith Street when offenders got into a home through a window, stealing a handbag and car keys before making off with the victim’s vehicle.
The stolen vehicle was later found damaged in Cherbourg.
About 2am on Saturday, August 17, another Smith Street residence was targeted when offenders reportedly gained entry through a kitchen window and stole property from the home.
They were confronted by the occupant and fled through the back door and got away in a stolen car.
In the most brazen act, at around 2am the same night, offenders allegedly used the stolen car to break into a business on Scott Street.
They smashed the front door with a rock and stole a till containing money, along with other items.
A witness confronted the offenders and alerted police before they fled the scene in the stolen vehicle.
Police have urged residents to remain vigilant and ensure their properties are securely locked and are asking anyone with information to come forward.
