A teenager has copped a mammoth fine after a drunken incident where he kicked in a door behind which his mother was hiding and assaulted police.

William Leslie Gyemore, 19, was drinking with friends at his Wondai home on April 25 this year, when he became aggressive.

His mother came to the outdoor area he was sitting in to smoke, and Gyemore quickly become aggressive, throwing items at her.

The frightened woman fled to the laundry where she locked herself inside and called police.

Undeterred, an agitated Gyemore began kicking at the door twice, causing it to split around the lock.

When police arrived, Gyemore began to flee despite being told to stop.

Police prosecutor Barry Stevens said that after Gyemore jumped a fence he stopped and turned to face the officer with a ‘fighting stance’ before yelling “I’ll f--king kill you, c--t”.

The officer produced his taser and warned Gyemore to get on the ground, with onlookers pleading with the teen to cooperate.

As the officer tried to put Gyemore is his patrol car, the teen began to again resist and eventually kicked out at the officer’s legs, before being taken to the ground.

Sgt Stevens said while being held on the ground, Gyemore hocked spit in his mouth and tried turn his head towards the officer.

The officer held Gyemore’s head on the ground and waited for back up to arrive.

Once at the Murgon watch house, police watched Gyemore rip apart a watchhouse-issued jumper, later telling officers it was because he was “stressed”.

The teenager pleaded guilty in Murgon Magistrates Court to assaulting police, obstructing police and two counts of wilful damage.

Gyemore spent most of the proceedings staring at the floor and had to be asked several times to stand up or speak louder.

Despite being offered probation and the opportunity for community service, he refused both and left magistrate Andrew Sinclair no choice but to slap him with a heavy fine.

Gyemore was fined $1000 and no conviction was recorded.
