Two Cherbourg teenagers charged over Murgon attack on couple

The two teenage boys will face court next month over the alleged attack which saw an 80-year-old man and a 76-year-old woman taken to hospital.

Two teenagers have been charged in relation to a serious assault and break-and-enter in Murgon earlier this month.

Around 10:20pm on Wednesday, January 15, a group of people broke into a property on Wallace Street, and allegedly threatened and assaulted the residents.

The victims, an 80-year-old man and 76-year-old woman, were taken to hospital in a stable condition.

After extensive investigations, police took two Cherbourg teens into custody on Tuesday, January 29.

A 14-year-old boy has been charged with multiple offences, including armed robbery, grievous bodily harm, breaking and entering, and arson.

A 15-year-old boy has been charged with grievous bodily harm, wilful damage, and breaking and entering.

Both teenagers are due to appear before Murgon Children’s Court on February 20.

Investigations into the incident remain ongoing.
