A Kingaroy teenager accused of stabbing a co-worker in the arm with a knife has been denied bail.

Police will allege an argument between two colleagues spiralled out of control when Riley Adam Dob Kennedy, 19, stabbed a Swickers coworker in the arm at a Kingaroy home.

During the 19-year-old’s bail application in Murgon Magistrates Court on Monday, his lawyers gave their version of what happened on the night of March 5.

Lawyer Jay Rose said there was some contention around how the alleged victim was injured and said her client denied stabbing the other man.

Ms Rose said the victim reached through what remained of a shattered glass door her client had broken by slamming it shut in the other man’s face, which is when the alleged victim noticed Mr Kennedy was holding a knife.

The alleged victim told police he “felt something hit his arm” and left a small wound, which Ms Rose submitted could have been caused by a shard of glass in the broken door frame.

Police prosecutor Lisa Manns argued most of the shattered glass ended up on the floor and the injury didn’t resemble one inflicted by a shard of glass.

The feud between the men allegedly flared up again a week later, with Mr Kennedy accused of pulling a knife in public.

Sergeant Manns said CCTV allegedly captured the 19-year-old acting aggressively toward the men before pulling out the weapon and tearing one of the alleged victim’s shirts with it.

Police opposed Mr Kennedy’s bail application, with Sergeant Manns telling the court Mr Kennedy was already on bail for similar charges in Southport, including entering a premises, possessing dangerous drugs, going armed to cause fear, wounding and stealing.

Mr Kennedy, who is charged with unlawful wounding, going armed to cause fear, serious assault of police and common assault in relation to the alleged stabbing, was denied bail.

He is due to appear in Kingaroy Magistrates Court on May 26.
