Darling Downs police are asking residents to search their yards for a missing phone that may have belonged to Jayden Usher.
Darling Downs Detective Acting Inspector Paula Smithard said the iPhone 15 Pro, blue in colour with a clear case, may hold clues to locating the 28-year-old man who disappeared from a Kingaroy home about 3am on October 5.
“We are treating the case as a missing person and we are concerned about Mr Usher’s welfare because of the length of time that he has been missing,” she said.
“Jayden’s family and the police are concerned for his safety as his disappearance is extremely out of character for him.
“We are asking for residents in the southern part of Kingaroy to search their yards, gardens, footpaths for any other local area or park to see if they can find Jayden’s mobile phone.
“We are also asking residents and business holders to check their CCTV footage, along with any people who were driving around that area to check their dash cam.
“We do know that Jayden was with friends and associates in that southern area of Kingaroy and we are currently investigating where he has gone from there.”
It is understood Jadyen left a house in Booth St on foot, heading towards Roberta St sometime around 2-3am on October 5.
Police have recovered Jadyen’s car and returned it to his family.
“We have some information (about the people he was with) and we are currently speaking to, and have spoken to people, who were with Jayden just prior to him being reported missing,” Acting Inspector Smithard said.
Police have called in the Dog Squad, along with officers from the Stock Squad to search open paddocks and grassland on Kelvyn St.
They are also looking to deploy drones and Polair.
“It is a vast area that we would like to search, that is not residential so we really do need the assistance of other resources, like the Polair, the Dog Squad and the Stock Squad, that can search big areas in short periods of time,” Acting Inspector Smithard said.
“That is why we are reaching out to the residence of Kingaroy because they can really assist police by searching the area around their homes to hopefully locate Jayden or his mobile phone.
“Local detectives have spoked to Jayden’s family, they are a lovely family, a very close family and they are very concerned for Jayden’s safety.
“We are extremely worried about Jayden, it is very unusual for Jayden to be absent from his family or workplace for this amount of time.
“We are keeping an open mind.”
Police are focusing their efforts on homes and streets in southern Kingaroy and residents are asked to search their backyards, along with drains and parklands near Booth Street.
It is understood volunteers from the State Emergency Service will be deployed to help in the search.
Mr Usher is described as 180cm tall, caucasian with brown hair and blue eyes.
“We are asking members of the public who may have information about Mr Usher’s disappearances to come forward,” Acting Inspector Smithard said.
Anyone with information about what happened to Jayden Usher is asked to phone Policelink on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers 1800 333 000.
