A Tingoora resident who reported coming home to find a young thief inside their home is just one of the people targeted in burglaries or property-related crime within the past week.

Police claim the resident returned to their house last Thursday evening and looked through their living room window to see a stranger standing near the front door.

They walked around to the back door to find it had been kicked in and the lock broken, then went inside to confront the boy, who fled the scene on foot.

No suspects have been taken into custody and no charges have been laid at this stage.

Investigations have been launched into another two burglaries reported within three days, the first being when a television, soundbar and bicycle were stolen from a Paul Holzangel Road home in Barlil.

It was only a few days later that thieves entered a Wondai home through an unlocked sliding door, taking car keys and using them to steal a vehicle parked outside, which was later found dumped in Darra.

Offenders also targeted a Murgon home between June 5 and 6, stealing a spare set of car keys from an occupant’s work bag and again making off with the corresponding vehicle.

The car was found several days later in Glan Davon.

Investigations into all incidents are ongoing.

According to statistics released by Queensland Police Service, nearly 30 unlawful entry offences have been recorded in Murgon within past six months.

This joins 12 unlawful use of a motor vehicle offences, 28 reports of property damage, two robberies, and two trespasses in the same area.

Kingaroy has recorded 43 unlawful entries, 14 unlawful use of a motor vehicle offences, 91 property damage offences, three robberies, and 14 trespasses within the same time period.

Data indicates Nanango has the lowest reported crime rates with six unlawful entries, one count of unlawful use of a motor vehicle, 17 property damage offences, and two instances of trespassing.
