A Murgon mum has described the terrifying robbery which left her family devastating during the festive season.
It comes after two teens were charged on Thursday.
Tash Banall recounted the night police allege two cars were stolen from her property and multiple Christmas presents destroyed on Boxing Day.
Police allege the teens succeeded in taking a Lancer hatchback and a Holden Colorado dual cab.
“The dual cab ute was filled with kids’ presents, as well as our own, and other valuable items.“
The Lancer was found later that morning, but the Holden Colorado wasn’t found until the following night.
“The Lancer was found at approximately 10:30am on the 27th, and the Colorado found approximately 11pm,” she said.
However, both vehicles were effectively destroyed.
“The ute was a complete burnout and unsayable.
“The Lancer has a shattered back windscreen, side window, a crack in the ”front windscreen, all tyres are down to camber – they were brand new tyres as well – underbody damage, body kit, dents in most panels, rims ”bent and scratched, and the immobiliser would be wrecked too.
“The gearbox and motor didn’t look or sound good either by the time they were done,” she said.
“A lot of the things were dumped throughout Cherbourg and most at the cemetery.“
The family was asleep during the break-in and woke to a call from police at 2:02am on December 27.
“Honestly, I have felt uneasy, terrified, and just depressed since this has happened.
“We feel violated and scared knowing they came into our home while our kids and ourselves were sleeping, as well as just knowing how much they took from us,” MsBanall said.
Two boys aged 15 and 14, have been charged, and investigations are ongoing.
