A Kingaroy removalist was busted with methamphetamines in his car while driving under the influence without displaying his P plates.

A Kingaroy removalist, busted drug driving and with methamphetamines in his car while driving without displaying his P plates, appeared before the Kingaroy Magistrates Court on Thursday.

Michael Mervyn Kevin Tho Dales, 31, pleaded guilty to one count of driving while relevant drug is present in blood or saliva, one count of driving without P plates fitted in the required way and one count of possessing dangerous drugs.

Police prosecutor Barry Stevens said Dales was stopped during a routine police check on February 24, 2023 at Kingaroy.

“He had no P plates showing and was unable to provide a reason to police,” sergeant Stevens said.

“A saliva test provided a result of methamphetamines in his system, he made admissions to smoking cannabis and meth.”

The court heard that upon searching his vehicle police located 0.3 grams of methamphetamines.

Defence solicitor Yvette Valdez said Dales suffered from asperger's syndrome and bipolar disorder.

“He is currently attending drug and alcohol counselling,” Ms Valdez said.

Magistrate Andrew Sinclair said Dales’ early plea would be taken into account.

He was sentenced to pay a $1000 fine and was disqualified from driving for three months.

Convictions were recorded.
