A South Burnett couple will finally stand trial over a string of alleged animal welfare offences involving their two dogs, after flooding kept them out of court this week.

RSPCA's strangest calls of 2021 revealed

A trial date has finally been set for two South Burnett residents charged with a string of animal welfare offences against their pet dogs, after severe flooding forced back their hearing date.

Marion Warner and Mitchell Weeks, both 29, are each charged with 10 counts of breaching their duty of care to the dogs between February 10 and March 10, 2020.

Mr Weeks told the Kingaroy Magistrates Court in December that the charges he faced alongside his ex-partner Ms Warner, were in relation to a boxer and a mastiff.

Mr Week and Ms Warner, who now live in Cooyar and Wilsonton Heights respectively, were arrested in Blackbutt last August.

Neither have indicated a plea.

Appearing by phone in the Kingaroy Magistrates Court on Monday, RSPCA prosecutor Kate Gover asked for the trail to be pushed back due to the recent flooding.

The trial was set down for March 10.

Both Mr Weeks and Ms Warner are currently out on bail.
