A young Kingaroy man who was arrested after refusing to listen to police who were responding to a domestic call has faced Kingaroy Magistrates Court.
Jake Phillip Liedtke-Waters, 25, pleaded guilty to one count of obstructing police officers on March 7, 2025.
The court heard police were called to a house in relation to a domestic incident about 8.45am on October 21, 2024.
When police arrived, they saw Liedtke-Waters pull up and walk toward the house.
Police told him to stay away from the home multiple times because they believed the person inside the home had a baseball bat.
He ignored the orders, and the court heart police grabbed him by the arm and tried to walk him away, but he resisted by holding onto the fence.
After police dealt with the incident inside the home, Liedtke-Waters was still upset and was “yelling and calling names” before being handcuffed and arrested.
The court heard he was detained at the police station for a short period of time.
Police prosecutor Pepe Gangemi described the incident as a “charged situation” and said the young man had only gone to the house after his younger sister called him and told him their mother had been assaulted by their brother.
Magistrate Andrew Sinclair said Liedtke-Waters had been detained for a short period by police at the time and he felt that was sufficient enough.
No conviction was recorded.
