Buck’s party ends in agony for groom after dirt bike crash

A groom enjoying a buck’s party with mates has been flown to hospital after suffering pelvis and back injuries. It was one of three dirt bike incidents in three days where a chopper had to be called.

A buck’s party has ended in agony for a groom after he suffered pelvis and back injuries after coming off a motorcycle.

It was one of three jobs in three days for the Sunshine Coast RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter crew involving dirt bike riders who had to be taken to hospital.

The drama for the groom started on Friday afternoon when he came off his bike as a designated off-road park in the South Burnett region.

The helicopter pilot landed the aircraft close to the incident and the man, who was aged in his twenties, was flown in a stable condition.

On Saturday, a rider aged in his sixties, crashed his dirt bike during a failed attempt at a small jump during a party in the Fraser Coast region.

The RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter was called into action around 12.30pm, with the pilot landing at a private property to retrieve the patient, who had suffered leg injuries.

Another rider, also aged in his sixties, suffered an ankle injury after coming off his bike during a group ride with friends in a South Burnett bushland area on Sunday afternoon.

Tasked at around 2pm, the pilot landed the rescue chopper in a clear area, while the patient was taken to the landing site by Queensland Ambulance Service paramedics.

All three injured riders were flown to Sunshine Coast University Hospital for further treatment.
