Attacked, spat on: Two female students assaulted at Murgon High School in two days

Police are investigating two assaults on school grounds at Murgon State High School after female students were physically attacked and spat on in separate incidents just days apart.

Police are investigating assaults at Murgon State High School over a two-day period after a female student was physically attacked and another spat on at school.

According to Murgon officer-in-charge Acting Senior Sergeant Dave Gillies, police were made aware of an incident on school grounds on Tuesday, June 22, involving two female students.

It’s alleged a girl spat on another student.

A second incident was reported on Wednesday, June 23, where a female student is alleged to have physically assaulted another girl at the school.

The complainant received minor injuries to her head and hand.

“Murgon State High School is committed to providing a safe, respectful and disciplined learning environment,” a Department of Education spokesman said.

“Any situation that threatens the safety and wellbeing of students or staff is treated extremely seriously, and dealt with as a matter of priority.

“Both are being reviewed and disciplinary consequences will be applied as per the school’s student code of conduct.”

The spokesman told News Corp while the school can provide information and assistance to police investigations - only students or parents can press charges.

“Counselling and guidance support is being provided to any students affected by the incidents,” he said.

The incident come less than a month after 11 students were jabbed with a needle from a “used blood test kit” at the same school.

Investigations are continuing.
