Argos raid allegedly finds ‘large volume’ of child exploitation material at Kingaroy house

A Kingaroy man will face court after a police raid allegedly uncovered a “large volume” of child exploitation material.

Ryan Potts, 26, was charged with more than a dozen offences after detectives from Argos and the Kingaroy Child Protection and Investigation Unit allegedly searched a Kingaroy house.

Mr Potts was charged with four counts of possessing child exploitation material, five counts of making child exploitation material, three counts of using a carriage service to access child abuse material and three counts of using a carriage service to distribute child abuse material.

Police will allege the disturbing material depicts the sexual abuse of babies and toddlers.

He was released on strict bail conditions and is due to appear at the Kingaroy Magistrates Court on November 29.

Detective Inspector Glen Donaldson of the Child Abuse and Sexual Crime Group’s unit Argos said this case highlighted the “tenacity” of the QPS in targeting offenders.

Detective Inspector Donaldson said child exploitation material offences are not victimless crimes and are created through the abuse of real children.
