Snake catcher survives eastern brown bite

Paramedics have rushed a person to hospital following a suspected snake bite at a rural South Burnett property.

Queensland Ambulance Service paramedics transported a patient to Kingaroy Hospital following a suspected snake bite at a private address at Wooroonden at 9.34am on Saturday.

It’s the second snakebite reported in the Wide Bay Burnett this week.

On Tuesday, a woman in her 30s was bitten on her foot at about 8.30pm on Eliza St, Eurong on K’gari (formerly Fraser Island), and treated by paramedics before being transported to the mainland in a stable condition.

It also comes days after a 90-year-old at nearby Maryborough revealed a chilling discovery when her fox terrier alerted her to a massive snakeskin on her veranda and follows a busy season across Queensland.

In October, well-known Southeast Queensland snake catcher Tony Harrison spent several days in hospital after being bitten by a deadly eastern brown snake as shocked fans watched the drama unfold on livestream.

More to come.
