A motorcyclist has been flown to a Brisbane hospital after a horror crash north of the state’s capital this morning.
According to a Queensland Ambulance Service spokeswoman, they received an emergency call at 11.21am for a motorcycle crash on Esk Kilcoy Rd, near Somerset Dam.
“A male has been transported with life-threatening injuries via rescue helicopter to Princess Alexandra Hospital,” the spokeswoman said.
She said the man sustained “possible head and chest injuries”.
Witnesses reported seeing the rescue helicopter land beside the main camping area, just south of the dam wall.
The injured man was then transferred from a waiting ambulance into the helicopter.
Esk Kilcoy Rd is a popular route for motorbike enthusiasts and is part of the well-known ‘Somerset Dam Route,’ which begins and ends in Brisbane.
