Missing cyclist found safe and well after 200km ride

A MAN reported missing when he failed to arrive at a medical appointment after cycling from Kingaroy has been found safe and well.

UPDATE: A MAN reported missing when he failed to arrive at a medical appointment after cycling from Kingaroy has been found safe and well.

The Chermside hospital where the man was headed advised police this morning Gavin Godwin had arrived.  

Kingaroy police think the 50-year-old man arrived in Brisbane at the hospital last night.  

Mr Godwin had not let any friends or family know of his safe arrival to the Brisbane hospital.  

Officer in charge senior sergeant David Tierney said Mr Godwin would remain on the missing persons register until Kingaroy police laid eyes on him.  

Snr sgt Tierney thanked the public for their assistance in the search for Mr Godwin.  

Cyclist vanishes on 200km trip to Brisbane hospital

EARLIER: POLICE are appealing for public assistance to help locate a 50-year-old man reported missing from Kingaroy.

Gavin Godwin was last seen on July 29 leaving Kingaroy on a bicycle.

Police believe he was planning on riding 200km to Brisbane for an appointment scheduled for July 30 at a hospital in Chermside, however, Mr Godwin did not attend the appointment.

Mr Godwin was last seen at 11.45pm on July 29 at a service station in Fernvale.

Police and family hold serious concerns for his safety.

Mr Godwin is described as Caucasian, 175cm tall with a slim build, black hair and hazel eyes.

He was last seen wearing black pants and a black jacket.

If anyone sees Gavin, knows of his whereabouts, or sees a man riding a bike in dark clothing, then they are encouraged to contact police.
