A man in his 60s was flown to hospital Sunday morning after sustaining a suspected spinal injury in a water skiing accident in the Somerset region.

The LifeFlight Sunshine Coast aeromedical crew was dispatched to the scene at 9am, where the rescue helicopter pilot landed near the site of the incident at Crossdale.

A LifeFlight spokesman said the LifeFlight critical care doctor and local Queensland Ambulance Service paramedics worked together to stabilise the injured man, who reportedly fell while being towed behind a boat.

A QAS spokeswoman said they assessed the man for neck and back injuries before he was flown to Princess Alexandra Hospital in a stable condition for further treatment.
