Police interview on Eureka St suspicious death

A dead body has been found inside the grounds of a Kingaroy high school, bringing this year’s Anzac Day commemorations to a tragic close.

The man, aged in his 40s, was found dead outside on the Kingaroy State High School campus just after 1pm Monday.

It is understood a child discovered the body while near the school during Anzac Day services.

Police are not treating the death as suspicious.

In a letter addressed to parents and carers, Kingaroy State High School principal David Thomson said it was not believed the man had any connection to the school.

“As some of you may already be aware, a deceased person was found on our school grounds over the long weekend,” the letter read.

“At this stage we do not believe the person had any connection to our school. I cannot provide any further details at this point and the Queensland Police Service is currently investigating.”

Education Queensland declined to comment on the incident.
