KINGAROY athlete Taliqua Clancy is making her family and country proud at the 2018 Commonwealth Games.
Ms Clancy's aunt, Kathleen Cush said the beach volleyballer and her teamate Mariafe Artacho del Solar were really confident in what they can achieve at the Games.
"We have full faith they can do it, they're an awesome team and hopefully we'll see them on the gold medal podium,” Mrs Cush said.
Australia dominated in their first three matches and commentators said the team will be tough to beat in the competition.
Ms Clancy told channel seven their best advantage was being positive.
"We know we are one of the best players in the world and so we bring that on the court,” she said.
Since the international competition was close to home, Ms Clancy was supported by many relatives at the Coolangatta stadium.
"Everyone's turned up and so that's really great,” Ms Clancy told Seven.
Mrs Cush said it was really special the whole family could watch her play and meet Mariafe, and those who have helped her through her volleyball journey.
"Family to Teliqua means everything, she will make every effort to come to any of the family things she can,” Mrs Cush said.
"I think that makes it even more special, that its here on the Gold Coast, because we can repay that and make sure we are there to support her as well.”
After many hours on the road to get Ms Clancy to training, her family were very proud to see her compete for Australia, Ms Cush said.
"The sense of pride that you get when you see her run out on the court, and the way she holds herself,” she said.
Ms Clancy snapped a Selfie with Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall and chatted to Prince Charles when the royal couple visited the athlete's village on the Gold Coast.
"That's one of the perks I suppose of all the hard work she's put in,” Mrs Cush said.
The family have been overwhelmed by the support and well wishes from the South Burnett community, she said.
"Teliqua really appreciates that and so do we, its great to know she's got a lot of support behind her,” Mrs Cush said.
