A BRISBANE-based motor sports club is looking for land in the South Burnett and it is putting the call out to farmers and landholders who might have a spare paddock or two they'd be willing to sell.

Russell Carswell is the president of of Triple R Motor Sport.

His club wants to build a facility that can accommodate drag racing, burnout competitions and two speedway tracks.

He wants to bring top fuel drag racing to country Queensland, along with building a car and bike speedway.

"We've been looking for land out in the South Burnett for the past month," he said.

The project comes with specific planning and infrastructure conditions that make it hard to find land.

The block needs to be at least 4km away from a residential area to comply with noise restrictions yet close enough to have town power and water.

It can't be on land that has too much vegetation as the club needs wide open space to build the four tracks.

He also needs good road access.

"A lot of properties we've looked at are on black soil and have dirt roads going to them," Mr Carswell.

But if the right property can be found Mr Carswell said the club could contribute to road improvements.

"I don't mind spending the money to get the road done," he said.

The club was hunting for land around Bundaberg and the Fraser Coast, but was not able to find anything to meet its needs.

The land was too close to built up areas and properties further out of town did not want a noisy motorsport track next door.

"We had some perfect blocks up at Bundy but as soon as we talked to the neighbours they said they'd put in complaints," Mr Carswell said.

This would have doomed the project from the start.

"Local council don't want to deal with projects that start out with objections and complaints," he said.

Members of the club have spoken to south Burnett real estate agents but there is nothing on the market that suits their needs.

So Mr Carswell is appealing to landowners in the South Burnett who are close to a town and might be open to selling or leasing.

If you know of a block of land to suit Triple R's needs call Mr Carswell on 0430882611.
