WITH lucky door prizes, raffles and live music by the legendary Silver Comets, the Mungungo School of Arts Old Time Dance is the perfect way to see in the Australia Day long weekend.

Year after year the Mungungo School of Arts light up the Mungungo Hall, hosting some of the North Burnett's best shakers and movers.

The Australia Day dance is a staple on the calendar for dancers in the region and this year will be no different.

Jeanie Wood is on the organising committee and said it was a fun night of old time dancing.

"We can expect anywhere form 40-70 people and we usually get people from all over the region," Ms Wood said.

"We have live music and games throughout the night, with all proceeds going back in to the hall," she said.

"We host eight dances throughout the year and the Australia Day Old Time Dance is one of the best."

The Mungungo Hall is full of history and is a centrepiece in the town, according to dance organiser Jacky Roth.

"The dance is all about getting people together and using the hall," Ms Roth said.

"It has so much history and if we don't keep using it, it will eventually disappear," she said.

"It will be a really fun night to raise funds for our much-loved Mungungo Hall."

The Old Time Dance kicks off on Australia Day at 7.30pm at the Mungungo Hall.
