Fifty Shades of Colour at Kingaroy Art Gallery

The Kingaroy Regional Art Gallery is showcasing the work of nine South Burnett artists.

THE Kingaroy Regional Art Gallery is showcasing the work of nine South Burnett artists with its latest exhibition 'Fifty Shades of Colour'.

The official opening of 'Fifty Shades of Colour' is Saturday, February 2, kicking off at 11am.

This exhibition was created to reflect the diversity of South Burnett artists, while also inviting the community to learn about the different possible uses of colour and texture across various mediums.

The exhibiting South Burnett artists are:

- Thelma Archibald

- Vyvyan Bloomfield

- Judith Brook

- June Everett

- Gladys Hood

- Linda Newman

- Kevin Owens

- Jen Pomfret

- Coralie Rivas

Coralie Rivas is the exhibition coordinator and said she enjoyed bringing something to life through her art.

"I love the freedom that art gives me,” she said.

"The medium I most enjoy is soft pastels which have a wonderful texture and a natural look.

"Portraiture, animals, and still life are my favourites.”

Kevin Owens, who is set to officially open the exhibition, said his work was influenced by the time he spent working in the building industry.

In his works he used pastel, graphite, charcoal, ink, and wash mediums to depict landscapes, old country buildings, and subjects close to nature.
