An elderly man who disappeared from a North Burnett property and was missing for two days has been found in a serious condition, with initial reports indicating he was found partly submerged in water.
A search and rescue operation was first launched to find David John Grimes, 84, after he was reported missing from a Penwhaupell property at about 1pm Monday.
It is understood he left his home to walk his two Jack Russell terriers to an area known as Back Creek, but did not come back that evening.
A Queensland Police Service spokesman said the 84-year-old was found partly submerged in a body of water on Wednesday afternoon, with the dogs waiting by their stranded owner.
Mr Grimes was reportedly in a serious condition and transported to hospital.
The multi-agency operation to find the man involved police and fire crews along with the SES, Polair, and Hervey Bay Water Police.
Neighbours, family, and friends joined emergency services in the search, using quadbikes, motorbikes, and foot patrols to scour the area around the property.
More information to come.
