Tributes are flowing for a 21-year-old man whose tragic death following a horror crash has devastated he Kingaroy community.
Zak Stevens tragically died when his car veered off Clark and Swendson Road and hit a tree about 8am Tuesday morning, causing the car to ignite.
The young man died at the scene.
Many of his friends and family have posted touching tributes to the beloved Kingaroy local on social media.
Zak’s mother Rebecca Popenko, who owns popular South Burnett nursery Memerambi Springs, posted a tribute to her firstborn child on Facebook, saying:
“It’s with a very heavy heart we let our family and friends know we lost our beautiful boy today, I know he is watching over us all, we love you and miss you so much Zak.”
“He is now at peace in heaven, we all miss and love you very much until we meet again.”
Friend Holly Bell posted to Facebook on Tuesday saying, “this morning marked one of the hardest days of my life”.
“Today I lost you, my best friend. Words can’t explain how much I’d give for one more talk around the back table or one more drive listening to your music. You were dearly loved by many people. I hope you’re skidding all the cars in the world up there. I love you.”
Zak’s little sister said “you are the kindest brother with the best smile”.
Friend Jess Kassulke said “thanks for all the goofy memories”.
“Thanks for being one of my best friends and someone to reach out to when I needed it.
“Rest well Zak and until we see each other again fly high.”
