It’s set to be a massive weekend of events across the South Burnett, with stacks of fun and festivities lined up over the next few days.
From the beloved Burrandowan Picnic Races to Mother’s Day events and more, there’s something for everyone in the South Burnett community this weekend.

Burrandowan Picnic Races
The 100th annual Picnic Races will be held on Saturday at the Burrandowan racetrack.
The event is one of the biggest on the South Burnett social calendar and punters will flock from across the region and state for the event.
Gates open from 9am, with the first race to kick off at 1.35pm.
Tickets need to be booked online and in advance for $25 a head, and racegoers are reminded they will need to bring cash due to the lack of cell reception.
Mother’s Day Bazaar Markets
The Blackbutt Avocado Festival committee’s Top of the Range Markets will be hosting a special Mother's Day markets on Saturday.
The markets will run from 7am to 1pm along the Rail Trail near the memorial hall on Bowman Rd.
With stalls selling something of everything, including avocado-themed gifts, there’s something for everyone.
The markets will also serve as a major fundraiser for the Avocado Festival later in the year.
Nanango Country Markets
The monthly markets at the Nanango Showgrounds will be on again this Saturday from 6am to noon.
The markets are the largest of their kind in southeast Queensland, with more than 400 stallholders lined up.
With so many stalls, you’re almost certain to score a trinket or two!
Mother’s Day Classic Fun Run
Strap on your runners and don your best pink, because the annual Wondai Mother’s Day Classic fun run is back.
Registrations will be from behind the Digger’s Club on Mackenzie St at 8am.
Runners will then head off for a 4km or 8km run along the rail trail.
Entry fees of $30 for adults and $20 for kids will got to the Breast Cancer Foundation.
Murgon Markets
The monthly markets in the Murgon CBD will be on again this Sunday from 7am to noon.
The markets will have plenty of fresh local produce and crafts, and will be held in Lamb St.
