Top performing South Burnett NAPLAN schools revealed for past 5 years

Analysis of five years worth of data has revealed the South Burnett’s best performing NAPLAN schools. See which schools received top marks.

St John‘s Lutheran School and Wheatlands State School are the top performing NAPLAN schools in South Burnett.

An independent analysis of five years of NAPLAN results has revealed the schools which consistently performed the best in the Year 5 and Year 9 tests between 2017 and 2021.

Over that five-year period, Wheatlands State School, in Wheatlands, had higher Year 5 yearly results than any other school in the South Burnett, scoring an average of 2495.0 each year.

St John‘s Lutheran School in Kingaroy was the second best for the region with an average score of 2485.8, while Tanduringie State School in Pimpimbudgee was the third best with an average score of 2448.3.

“Our teachers are incredibly hard working and support each other even though they are a small team,” Mrs Bjelke-Petersen said.

“Caring for and understanding our students’ learning styles and needs assist in creating a supportive environment where students can feel they can work to their best of their ability.

“Having calm classrooms certainly assist to enable teachers to teach and students to learn.”

St Mary‘s Catholic College in Kingaroy was the second best for the region with an average score of 2858.0, while Kilkivan State School in Kilkivan was the third best with an average score of 2779.5.

To determine how each school performed between 2017 and 2021, their average scores for each year were combined and the yearly average found.

Special schools, schools with fewer than 20 students enrolled in either year, and schools that did not report any results for NAPLAN subjects in either year were excluded from the analysis.

The figures were independently compiled from the Federal Government‘s MySchool website.
