Kingaroy singing teacher Julee-anne Bell is still coming to terms with her overnight rise to fame after her angelic voice inspired Guy Sebastian to join her on stage for an impromptu duet.

“I was expecting a few nice messages, but now I’m going to need help running my social media. I think I broke the internet,” Ms Bell laughed.

Blind from birth as a result of Lebers Congenital Amaurosis, Ms Bell was unaware of the powerful impact she had on the audience, having to check judge to see whether her rendition of Climb Ev’ry Mountain was enough to spin their seats.

“If there had been a fifth chair, that would have turned around, too,” judge Keith Urban said.

“It was just angelically beautiful. This is the voice, and you are THE voice.”

While she could hear the crowd going wild as the emotional judges turned their chairs, Ms Bell said she didn’t make the connection at the time, assuming instead the audience were just being kind.

When asked by Sebastian how her disability shaped her experience on stage, Ms Bell said the walk to centre stage felt like a never-ending journey into a big silent chasm, but once the music started “it just felt like theatre”.

Ms Bell said her song choice was inspired by Sebastian's 2003 Idol win where he performed the Sound of Music classic, which he said she sung “exquisitely”.

Coyly telling the judges she’d given her choice of mentor just a “little bit of thought”, Ms Bell announced she was joining Sebastian’s team, as her husband smiled and rolled his eyes backstage.

Then the Idol alum then climbed onto the stage so the pair could belt out a tune together.

“(Sebastian’s) voice is pretty much perfect and he’s such a sweet man, and it’s inspiring how he took his Idol win and turning that into an actual bona fide career,” Ms Bell said.

“I actually cried watching it back. I couldn’t remember how I sounded at the time, so I didn’t know if it would be any good.”

Ms Bell said the experience inspired her to dedicate more of her time to being in the spotlight.

“I love teaching and I’ll never stop, but I want to give myself more time creatively,” Ms Bell said.

“This experience has reminded me how much I love performing.”
