The South Burnett Regional Council has announced a new speed limit of 40km/h, down from 50km/h, within Kingaroy’s Central Business District, effective June 2024.

This decision follows a request to review the current speed limit in line with contemporary guidelines, aiming to improve road safety in the bustling town centre.

Mayor Kathy Duff thanked the Department of Transport and Main Roads for their “collaborative approach” to road safety within the South Burnett community.

“Kingaroy’s town centre is a busy place for motorists, pedestrians, and businesses. The new speed limit for the CBD will improve safety for all people going about their everyday activities,” Ms Duff said.

The roads affected by this change include Haly, Alford, Markwell, Glendon, and Kingaroy Streets within the CBD area.
