South Burnett community groups are celebrating as nine local organisations secured significant funding through Round 120 of the Gambling Community Benefit Fund (GCBF).
The grants, totalling over $280,000, will support installing a solar system, purchasing musical equipment, upgrading facilities, constructing a supercross track, acquiring vehicles and equipment, hosting local festivals and events, and constructing new facilities.
Member for Nanango, Deb Frecklington said she was “ so pleased” the groups have been rewarded for their hard work.
“Without our community groups, sporting clubs, and all those who volunteer their time, most of the events and activities we love would just not happen,” Ms Frecklington said.
“It is great to see so many of them get this funding boost and be able to get their important projects underway.”
The grants are part of the larger GCBF initiative, which awarded a total of $14,988,844 to 588 organisations and local clubs in Round 120.
The one-off grants help community groups purchase goods or equipment to support a wide range of valuable work in their regions.
Attorney-General and Minister for Justice and Minister for the Prevention of Domestic and Family Violence, Yvette D’Ath, emphasised the significance of these grants.
“Many of these not-for-profit organisations use grant funding to boost services that help the vulnerable in our local communities,” Ms D’Ath said.
“As many Queenslanders are feeling cost-of-living pressures, it is our task to ensure this funding is injected into the regions and communities, where it can help those most in need.”
Ms Frecklington also encouraged other local clubs and not-for-profit organisations to consider their upcoming community projects and apply for funding in Round 122.
“Clubs are always welcome to call my office on 4190 7100 for advice and support for their next Gambling Community Benefit Fund grant application,” she said.
