Jumping behind the bar just nine months ago, Cassie Daley found her calling pouring drinks and having a yarn with the Golden Orange Hotel’s tight knit ‘pub community’.

If there are three things the loyal patrons at Gayndah’s Golden Orange Hotel can always expect, it’s a warm smile, cold drink, and solid yarn with bartender Cassie Daley.

Celebrity chef Matt Preston and the Central and North Burnett Times have been on the hunt for the best bartender in the region and local readers have spoken.

Stepping behind the bar just nine months ago, Cassie’s natural social skills and obvious enjoyment of her job scored her the number one spot in the North Burnett region.

Moving to Gayndah from Rockhampton 10 years ago, Cassie took up work packing and pruning at Robinson’s Orchid for four years, falling in love with the citrus capital during this time.

“I went back and forth a couple of times, but never really left Gayndah. It stuck with me,” she said.

When the opportunity for a new challenge as a bartender arose, Cassie jumped at the chance to spend her working days getting to know the community.

“I've really gotten to know the community and appreciate seeing the people who come through,” she said.

“You get to know so many different people and we love seeing them every time.”

Cassie’s genuine care for her little “pub community” at the Golden Orange is evident in her service, always tending to their needs with kindness and politeness.

“I try to be very professional with the way I talk to them, but I also try to make sure they always feel welcome to come down and that they're appreciated for coming here.”

Cassie said she’s honoured to be recognised for her work and the contributions she and the Golden Orange make to the community.

“I‘d like to thank everyone who voted me in and who appreciate me as a bartender.”
