The South Burnett Music Awards will be held at the Carrollee Hotel on Thursday, March 23 from 7-10pm.

Mr Gould said he came up with the show idea when he realised musicians of the South Burnett rarely socialise with the region’s arts community as socialising hours for most, are work hours for them.

“Originally it started out as an opportunity for the local music community to have a get together,” Mr Gould said.

“There are quite a few people who deserve recognition and then I thought it was time something was done about that.”

The soon to be announced nominees have been decided by judges Chantel Hart from Crow FM, Kingaroy Chamber of Commerce president Damien Martoo and Push and Pull marketer Sheena Lindholme.

The show boasts five awards including, Youth Musician of the Year, Live Music Venue of the Year, People of the Industry‘s Choice Award and Inductee into the South Burnett Music Hall of Fame.

Mr Gould said he has been excitedly organising, procuring sponsors, promoting the event as well as delivering invitations to special guests.

The event will raise money for the South Burnett Arts Inc program, with profits to go towards musical instrument hire for disadvantaged children in the region.

Mr Gould said he hopes to continue this event over many years.

“This awards process and night intends to alleviate these costs, and help schools purchase instruments so they can provide music access,” he said.

The Carrollee Hotel will transform into a Grammy worthy venue with a stage and performances from Warren Gould, David Lynch Junior and other special guests.
