Can you give a pet a home this Christmas?

There are still plenty of animals in need of a loving home or donations.

THIS Christmas Kingaroy RSPCA shelter is nearly full of animals looking for their forever home.

RSPCA Kingaroy volunteer Johanna King said despite having a successful year of adoptions there were still plenty of animals in need.

"We're almost at complete capacity and are quite full,” Ms King said.

Christmas can be an ideal time to give the gift of a loving furry best friend; but, make sure it's a thought through decision.

"A lot of the time we get people who don't think adopting through properly this time of year,” Ms King said.

"But when adopting an animal you need to be sure. Because you're going to be their forever home.

"As an owner you are that animals everything. They live for you and you need to think about it before adopting. Make sure this is something you really want.”

RSPCA encourages people to not treat adoption as a last minute present idea.

"Make sure you can provide for them in the long term. That's what they deserve,” Ms King said.

If adoption isn't for you, there are other ways to support RSPCA this Christmas.

"We really love it when people drop by just to spend time with our animals,” Ms King said.

"They all need and love attention. Especially over Christmas time.”

There is also the option of donating to RSPCA as a Christmas gift.

RSPCA is currently running their Guardian Angel Christmas program. This is where you are paired up with a homeless animal on line.

This is a great Christmas idea for kids because you are able to show them how their gift has provided for a specific pet in need.

You can also give this donation as a Christmas present by donating on behalf of them. Then RSPCA will send them an e-card thanking them for their kindness this Christmas.
