FOR many a trip to Bunnings goes hand in hand with buying a snag.

When Kingaroy's Bunnings Warehouse opened its doors for the first time on Friday the team from Boots'n Bulldust Seeds of Hope were proud to serve a sausage in bread to customers.

"We had 300 sausages and eight kilograms of onions but we have gone to get some more,” Boots'n Bulldust Seeds of Hope CEO Sandy Towell said.

"The place is packed and everyone is incredibly excited about it. I think it will certainly be good for the area.”

Mrs Towell said the regular barbecue would be a great asset for community groups to raise more funds for their cause.

"For a days hard yakka the profit is definitely there and gets the word out about what we do,” she said.

"You almost get to the stage where you are competing for fund raisers and we don't want to do that so by doing something like this it is giving us the money that we need without having to compete with anyone else.”

As an organisation providing support for local people living with depression, a mental illness or at risk of suicide Mrs Towell said profits from the barbecue would be used for crisis support including providing hampers, water and fuel for those in need.
