The iconic Big Peanut statue in Kingaroy is set to feature on a special edition of the board game Monopoly.
The edition will include up to 30 ‘big things’ from all around the country, and will be exclusively available through local council facilities, like visitor information centres.
The South Burnett Regional Council will go into partnership with Winning Moves to develop the game.
Winnings Moves has been creating custom editions of Monopoly for more than 25 years, and previously produced Australian themed editions like Amazing Animals QLD and a Whitsunday edition.
The project will cost the council about $13,800, and they will receive 300 board games and Top Trumps card games to distribute around the region.
The games will be sold for a profit, which would be invested back into the region.
Several councillors spoke against spending such a significant amount of money on this project, and said they believed the funds could be better spent buying things like a mower.

However, the majority of councillors were excited about the prospect of being part of the project.
One councillor said that even though it might be “a little frivolous”, it would be money well spent.
Additionally, it was noted the Council does not spend a lot of money on tourism, and these games would be sold in all regions that participated in the project, which would increase visibility of the region.
The artistic statue, made up of old farming equipment, was created by acclaimed metal sculptor, Kane Minogue.
It was unveiled in 2021, and was partly funded by community contributions through a dedicated GoFundMe page, as well as sponsorships from local businesses.
The cost to purchase one of these limited edition Monopoly games will be determined at a future date.
