Chelmsford fire: Blaze destroys Wiers Rd home despite multiple fire crews fighting to save the property

A historic rural home north of Kingaroy has been destroyed in a devastating fire despite the best efforts of fire crews.

A house has been completely destroyed in a horror blaze in the South Burnett.

Fire crews rushed to reports of a house fire at 2.50pm, on Tuesday at Chelmsford, near Wondai.

A QFES spokesman said when crews arrived at the single-story building on Weirs Rd, they found it engulfed in flames.

Five crews fought the blaze, but the historic 100-year-old house, which has been passed down through generations in the family couldn’t be saved.

“The structure has totally collapsed,” the spokesman said.

Crews were able to contain the fire to the building, preventing it spreading, with the fire extinguished just after 4pm.

The homeowner alerted fire crews to the blaze, and the all people are accounted for.

Crews remain on scene, and are continuing to “wet down” the structure.

Queensland Ambulance Service confirmed it remained on call for the fire service, but that no injuries had been reported.

Police and Ergon workers are also at the scene.
