BUNYA Red Farm has been named as  finalist for the esteemed Delicious Produce awards.

The South Burnett farm owners Allan and Mandy Evans were very pleased their capers in salt product was named a 2018 Delicious Produce State finalist.

Family friend Tina Mangino said it is always an honour to be recognised for hard work and the Evans were more than deserving.

"They have produced a quality crop here in the beautiful Kingaroy red dirt, and generally speaking it could not have happened to nicer people," Ms Mangino said.

This award recognises their hard work and brings some recognition to the South Burnett, the lovely soils and the versatility of the place, she said.

"They work really hard, they don't really get much time for themselves," she said.

This is Bunya Red Farm Capers in Salt's first time in the Delicious awards, however they have previously won awards at the Sydney Royal Show.

Delicious editor-in-chief Kerrie McCallum said the state judging panel had sat around the table, tasting their way through hundreds of nominations.

"In 2018 we continue to celebrate new, innovative, native and consistently outstanding Australian ingredients grown, caught, sourced or produced with dedication, passion, knowledge and regard for the environment," she said.

The state winners' produce will be blind-tasted to determine the overall winners, by a national panel of judges in Sydney on August 13.

The Evans are stoked to have their capers reaching renowned foodie judges, who are tasting their food, Ms Mangino said.

It is pleasing to be promoted in this way, even when their product is already being sold to chefs who serve their capers in their restaurants, she said.
