The South Burnett Regional Council has greenlit a new development application for the construction of 24 one-bedroom units in Kingaroy.
Submitted by Designtek on behalf of Super Turnkey Pty Ltd, the revised application was approved on May 2, 2024.
The plans show a significant transformation at 27-31 Pound St, located between Pound and Kingaroy Sts.
The project will involve the demolition of part of a large building, a smaller building, and a small shelter currently on the site.
In their place, 24 new one-bedroom units, each featuring a private bathroom, will be constructed.
The site, which is currently occupied by various businesses including Kingaroy Tires and Karate for Kids, will also undergo resurfacing in certain areas.
To support the new development, 24 additional car parks will be created, supplementing the 40 existing parking spaces.
Adjacent to the proposed site is Room Motel Kingaroy, formerly known as Pioneer Lodge, which fronts Kingaroy St.
The new units are likely to serve as an extension of this existing motel, although specific details regarding this integration have yet to be confirmed.
While the development plans have been approved, the timeline for the commencement of construction has not been announced.
