Burnett’s cutest baby 2023 has been revealed

The proud mum of the Burnett’s Cutest Baby of 2023 has revealed the early challenges she faced with her adorable bundle of joy and shares some of the highs and lows of new parenthood. See the cuties who made this year’s top 4.

Leilani Barnes has been revealed as Burnett's cutest baby.

Wondai mum Sara Barnes, 21, describes her daughter Leilani as “the cutest thing ever” and when she talks about her four-month-old, it’s clear how much love she has for her.

“She’s just always smiling and laughing with anyone that she meets. It can be a complete stranger that she’s never seen before and she will still give them a smile,” she said.

“She has everyone wrapped around her little finger,” Ms Barnes said.

Leilani is Ms Barnes’ first child, and she is embracing motherhood through both the ups and downs.

“Everyone told me that it would be the most amazing job ever, which it is, but it also has its challenges,” she said.

“Every day is a challenge but at the same time it’s been magical and amazing.”

One challenge was when Leilani suffered from silent reflux. After having her bottle, the milk would come back up but not all the way, causing a burning sensation for Leilani.

“It was really hard for me because I didn’t know what it was or what she was doing but she would cry all night … I just had to take it one day at a time.

“It’s definitely gotten a lot better and she’s just grown out of it.”

One recent milestone had Ms Barnes cautiously excited.

“Currently she’s learning to roll, it’s quite scary but at the same time it’s so exciting.

“It’s also been rewarding seeing her grow because it’s making me grow as well,” Ms Barnes said.

Baby Leilani won the poll for the Burnett’s Cutest Baby with 25 per cent of the vote. Little Dustin Rebbeck came in second with 18 per cent and twins Payton and Alice Maree Newman came in third place with 10 per cent.
