A well known Ballogie family have lost their home, business and car after a blaze ripped through their house last week.

Kane and Anna Wills escaped the blaze on Wednesday, February 12, with their three children and pets, but their home was burnt almost completely to the ground.

No one suffered any serious injuries, however two members of the family were treated for minor burns by paramedics at the scene and Mr Wills suffered blisters.

The fire was reportedly caused by a faulty household appliance that “burst into flames”.

A GoFundMe has been started for the family, with more than $3000 raised in just three days.

“A family have had their whole life burnt to the ground,” Patricia Blinco, who organised the Go-Fund Me on behalf of the family, wrote.

As well as losing their personal belongings, the couple also ran a jewellery-making business from home, Flame and Gem Jewellery.

The family are reportedly active in the local community and always willing to give a helping hand to anyone in need.

“Kane and Anna have been a supportive part of our community with both sitting on (a) non-for profit organisation helping rural people of Ballogie, (to being) a helping hand to anyone in need,” the GoFundMe page said.

They are involved in running the Ballogie Community Association Inc., which fundraises, puts on community events and recently secured a 10-year lease on a property with plans to build a community and recreation centre.

The funds raised through the GoFundMe will go towards replacing their family car and helping to establish a temporary home until they can rebuild.

Social media users have shown their support for the couple on local community pages, commenting “the community is blessed to have them” and “this couple are the first to help out anyone that needs it”.
