LIFE will be more comfortable for Nanango aged care residents with $451,341 granted to upgrade facilities.

Residents at Nanango-Karinya's Southern Cross Care will have ensuites upgraded to fix accessibility issues and be safer in their home with the replacement of deteriorating fixtures and paintwork.

Maranoa MP David Littleproud secured the funding through the Aged Care Regional, Rural and Remote Infrastructure Grants initiative.

"This make-over will provide a new level of comfort for seniors and I think that has a huge flow-on effect in the community knowing that seniors living in the residence are feeling comfortable and cared for," he said.

"This funding supports aged care providers to better meet the needs of seniors, which builds confidence that relevant care and services are available locally, not only in far-off metro areas.

Mr Littleproud said he believed it was a tragedy when seniors are forced to move away from family, friends and community and move away from everything they've ever known to a larger town or city to receive care as their needs change.

"I am committed to making sure our seniors have local access to relevant care and services and I'm pleased that funding for upgrades at Nanango-Karinya goes a long way to making that a reality," he said.
