Show Society secretary Julie Brown said this year’s show would feature the usual favourites, but with a twist.

“This year there is a blacksmith on site fashioning a special 175th years of Nanango horseshoe which will be auctioned on the day,” Ms Brown said.

“The Dexter breed will be having their 32nd show at Nanango and there will be the usual horse shows and jumping.

“There will be every chook you can think of for breeding, egg laying and production at the poultry show in the Ted Thompson Pavilion,” she said.

Competitive woodchopping will begin at 9.30am on the day.

Wood chopped in the competition will be auctioned as firewood to raise funds for future events hosted by the society.

Ms Brown said Viv’s Animal Farm from Proston and their adorable baby goats would be a highlight for children.

“There is lots of free entertainment the kids will love,” Ms Brown said.

“Going around the grounds all day will be the Little Red Engine train and Dinolarious Dinosaur Show at the pavilion.

“Kids can climb the rock wall and watch the comedy duck races,” she said.

The event boasts hilarious novelty events such as a dunny dash and barrel racing where adults can compete for multiple prizes.

Tasty treats including the traditional dagwood dog, the iconic Nanango hot spuds, ice cream and more will be available, as well as options for health conscious guests.

The event kicks off at 7am at 129 Drayton Street, Nanango, with the official opening at 1.30pm.

Tickets are $15 for adults, $10 for pensioners and children are free if accompanied by a paying adult.
