Security guards at Gold Coast hotel filmed pushing man, woman down flight of stairs

More people have come forward with claims of violence at a Gold Coast hotel, following the release of horrific footage showing a couple being pushed down stairs by security.

In the footage, captured by a bystander outside The Grand hotel at Labrador on the Gold Coast, three male security guards and two patrons – a woman and a man – can be seen in a heated discussion in an outdoor section of the hotel after the duo were allegedly asked to leave for their alcohol-fuelled disruptive conduct.

After a few moments of talking the woman is pushed away by one of the guards, sending her down the flight of stairs.

The woman lands on her feet and returns to confront the guard, before the exchange quickly escalates.

A scuffle breaks out when the security guard swats away the woman’s pointed finger, before she is shoved again, losing her footing and tumbling down the stairs.

Her male accomplice is also pushed down the stairs by another guard, with the footage showing him colliding with a railing before falling to the ground below.

The male patron is seen briefly attempting to continue the scuffle, before stopping to help the woman while the security guards watch on.

“What have you done?” one onlooker is heard saying, before a guard approaches the person filming and the vision ends.

Joel Weidenbach witnessed the altercation and said no one deserved the treatment dished out by security.

“She wasn’t a threat to anyone,” he told Channel 9.

“No one deserves to be treated the way they were treated. You don’t throw someone down the stairs like that.”

It is not clear when the incident took place or if anyone sustained injuries during the altercation, although Queensland police have confirmed to The Courier-Mail that no complaints have been made.

Another woman now claims she was asked to leave the Grand Hotel at Labrador after becoming drunk.

She told media that while she was being taken out of the premises she was pushed down the same flight of stairs and was knocked unconscious.

Additionally, two other men have come forward and said they were assaulted by the same security guards.

The woman, who wished to remain anonymous, said she came forward because she was so concerned that someone would be killed one day.

“I hit the ground with the back of my head and was knocked out for 15 minutes,” the woman said.

One man kicked out on the same night said he did not see the security guards coming before he was roughly escorted out.

“They just picked me up. My friends were standing around asking what was going on,” the man said.

The Grand Hotel Labrador is yet to make an official statement.
