Second dingo put down after savage attack on Fraser Island
A second dingo who savagely mauled a tourist and her son holidaying in Fraser Island has euthanised after it was captured by rangers on the idyllic tourist hotspot.

A SECOND dingo that savagely mauled a tourist and her son holidaying in Fraser Island has been put down.
Wildlife rangers euthanised the second dingo involved in attacking a French tourist, in her twenties, and her nine-year-old son at Eurong Beach on Thursday night.
They were reportedly running to safety back to their car when they were attacked by a pack of dingoes.

The boy suffered wounds to his face and serious lacerations to his legs, and his mother suffered from leg injuries.
It comes days after rangers euthanised the first dingo involved in the attack.

A Department of Environment and Science spokeswoman confirmed the second dingo was euthanised on Saturday.
“QPWS rangers on K’gari (Fraser Island) have captured the second dingo identified in the attack on three people on Thursday evening near Eurong Beach. Considering the seriousness of the incident, this dingo has been euthanised, in consultation with the Butchulla People.
“Rangers continue to patrol at campgrounds and island arrival points to warn visitors of the dangers associated with dingoes,” Department of Environment spokesman said in a statement.
People are encouraged to remain vigilant and report any negative dingo encounters to a QPWS ranger or phone 07 4127 9150 or email dingo.ranger@des.qld.gov.au as soon as possible.
