Police have found the body of a woman missing from a capsized boat.

The woman’s was found earlier on Sunday clinging to his capsized dinghy halfway between Moreton Island and Mud Island.

The woman, 48, is believed to have slipped away from the boat, a Quintrex 440 Renengade tinny, during the night.

The couple left the Comslie boat ramp in Morningside planning to go fishing near the northern part of Mud Island on Saturday, but their boat was capsized by a large wave as they were making their way home due to dangerous conditions.

They could see the rock wall of the Port of Brisbane as the wave threw them off the boat.

Neither of them were wearing life jackets.

The pair managed to make an emergency call to a family member saying they were in trouble

“It (the conditions) was very rough.

The man was taken to the Princess Alexandra Hospital in a stable condition with hypothermia.

The massive search for the couple began last night and was restarted at first light this morning.

Water Police, Polair, the Coast Guard and Volunteer Marine Rescue were all involved.

A string of recent incidents in the Bay area have taken a toll on the Officer in Charge of Brisbane Water Police.

“I think you get your search and rescue coordinators remorse, it doesn’t sit with you very well that you’ve thrown everything at it that you can and you haven’t found someone,” Snr-Sgt Gray said.

“You never forget it and it feels like you failed and you know you’ve done the best job you can but not bringing someone home to your family really it does affect you and it does affect our team.”

Trent Riley, 26, remains missing after his dinghy was found abandoned in Moreton Bay in April.

Jordan Kelly, 26, also went missing in dangerous conditions on Stradbroke Island when he went for a two-hour paddle on a ski with a friend in May.

Police also commenced a search on Thursday after emergency flares were found in the trawler break in the Bay.

There were no reports of missing people or vessels at the time.
