Young Sea World chopper crash survivor Nicholas Tadros has had a “major setback” in his recovery and now faces having his foot amputated, it’s been revealed.
The 10-year-old was critically injured in the January 2 collision between two Sea World joy flight helicopters on the Southport Broadwater.
The tragedy claimed the life of his mother Vanessa, British tourists Ron and Diane Hughes and Sea World Helicopters chief pilot Ash Jenkinson.
Nicholas had been making a miraculous recovery in Queensland Children’s Hospital, where he was taken off life support last week and was able to hold his dad Simon’s hand.
But in a heartbreaking Facebook post on Saturday, family friend Charlie Backhos shared sad news about the boy’s condition.
“There’s been a major setback with Nicholas progress,” Mr Backhos said.
“Nicholas’ operation couldn’t be completed today and (doctors) have come back with some sad news.
“Nicholas may need to have his right foot amputated. Nicholas will need all your prayers over the next couple weeks before surgeons try again.
“We really need to continue praying for Simon as well to get him through this tough time as he will have to face Nicholas in the coming days to let him know his mum been taken to heaven and also let him know that he may be losing a foot, which will be a major blow to Nicholas’ mental state of mind.
Please be all we ask is to keep praying for God’s will to be done.
“God bless.”
