Footage has captured staff members at a Sunshine Coast high school pinning down intruders until police arrived on Tuesday.
The video, taken at Caloundra State High School and shared with 7 News, showed a staff member wrestling one of the two intruders to the ground.
A Department of Education spokeswoman said the incident caused a brief precautionary lockdown after two unauthorised people were on school grounds.
“The people were located and isolated by senior staff until police arrived,” she said.
“Any situation that threatens the safety and wellbeing of students or others in the school
community is treated extremely seriously, and dealt with as a matter of priority.”
Parents and carers were notified of the lockdown by SMS and students resumed normal
classes during the fourth period.
“Guidance Officer support is available at the school for anyone who requires it.”
“The school will work closely with authorities as they investigate this incident.”
